Characteristic AI Agents via Large Language Models
The development of Large Language Models (LLMs) has greatly enhanced chatbot systems. Our research focuses on examining the effectiveness of LLMs in creating lifelike AI agents that simulate real individuals in various scenarios. We have established a standard for the task of creating lifelike AI agents, which includes a dataset, methodologies, and performance metrics. Our "Character100" dataset consists of profiles of the most prominent individuals on Wikipedia, which language models can use to role-play. The findings from our experiments highlight potential avenues for further enhancing the capabilities of LLMs in creating lifelike AI agents.

The use of high-quality synthetic data from strong language models (LMs) is a common method to improve reasoning performance. In this study, we compared the efficiency of using more powerful but costly models versus less powerful but more affordable models. We found that data from the more affordable models may have higher coverage and diversity, but also exhibit higher false positive rates. Our results suggest that models fine-tuned on data from the more affordable models consistently outperform those trained on data from the more powerful models.
Recent advancements in language models have enabled real-time conversations with humans. The Mini-Omni is an end-to-end conversational model capable of real-time speech interaction. It uses a text-instructed speech generation method and batch-parallel strategies to enhance performance. The model maintains language capabilities with minimal degradation, and we have introduced the VoiceAssistant-400K dataset for fine-tuning models optimized for speech output.
